Which certificate for residence and naturalisation?

For naturalisation you currently meet the language condition with an integration diploma at A2 or above, or with the Staatsexamen NT2 (Programma I at B1 or Programma II at B2). There is a stated intention to raise the requirement to B1 for everyone, but it has not come into force. Always check your own case with the IND.

Which bodies count
Only proof from recognised routes counts. Besides the integration diploma and the Staatsexamen NT2, the IND accepts among others the European Baccalaureate with Dutch, and the International Baccalaureate, IGCSE or IB Middle Years Certificate with a pass in Dutch. A language-school certificate is not proof.
Foreign diplomas
Using a diploma from abroad? It needs an **apostille**. Start early: it runs through the authorities of the issuing country and can take weeks.

- Request an apostille as soon as you know you are using a foreign diploma.
