Reading an announcement — an event in the neighbourhood, a new rule at work — and answering what you can or must do.

Kom naar de rommelmarkt in buurthuis De Linde!: The opening line names the event and the place. Kom naar … ! is an invitation, not an instruction.
U kunt tweedehands spullen, boeken en speelgoed kopen.: U kunt … kopen: the verb comes at the very end and belongs to the whole list before it.
Wilt u zelf een kraam huren? Bel dan naar 020-3344556.: A second offer for a different reader — people who want to sell. Huren belongs to kraam and to nothing else.
Vanaf maandag is het dragen van veiligheidsschoenen en een helm in de hele hal verplicht.: Vanaf + day = when the new rule starts. Verplicht comes last; what is compulsory is everything after het dragen van.
Eten en drinken mag alleen in de kantine, niet bij de machines.: A second rule in the same notice. Mag alleen … niet answers a different question — where, not what is compulsory.

A question asking which action the text tells you to take — usually under a condition the question names.

Als u … , dan …: Condition and action in one sentence. Find the als that matches the question and the answer is after the comma.
Kunt u niet komen? Bel dan …: A question used as a condition. Dutch notices do this constantly, and dan marks the action.
Neem … mee: Bring with you. An instruction for the people who do come, and therefore the wrong answer to a question about not coming.
uiterlijk / vóór: At the latest. Attaches a time limit to an action, and a question may ask about the time rather than the action.
hoeft u niets te doen: You need do nothing. A real option in these questions and sometimes the right one.

A clause opened by omdat, dat, als, of, toen or terwijl — inside it, the verb moves to the end.

omdat ik ziek ben: Reason. The single most-needed subordinate clause on the paper.
dat ik morgen kom: Reporting what was said or written. Follows zeggen, schrijven, denken, weten, horen.
als het regent: Condition. Also opens a sentence, and then the main clause inverts after the comma.
of de les doorgaat: of meaning "whether", after vragen or weten. Not the of that means "or".
Omdat ik ziek ben, kom ik niet.: Subordinate clause first counts as position 1, so the main clause inverts: kom ik.
… omdat ik naar de dokter moet gaan.: Two verbs both go to the end, in that order: modal then infinitive.

Completing a real Dutch form by hand — registration, an appointment, a change of address, a claim.

Voornaam / Achternaam: Given name and family name. Dutch forms put voornaam first; many other countries do the opposite.
Geboortedatum / Geboorteplaats: Date of birth against place of birth. One is digits, the other is a town.
Postcode / Huisnummer: A Dutch postcode is four digits and two letters: 1012 AB. The house number is its own field.
Ingangsdatum / Datum van vandaag: The date something starts, against today's date. Forms often ask for both.
Handtekening: A signature, not your name printed. An empty signature line is an incomplete form.
Toelichting / Reden: The one field that wants a sentence. Everything else on the form wants a value.
