What are you asked?

Record spoken answers to video and image prompts. DUO does not publish the exact task breakdown; our practice format is an approximation.

Pass rule: Each part is passed separately and reported pass/fail. DUO does not publish the exact question counts or cut scores.

How to practise this part

  • 1

Answer in full sentences, not single words.

  • 2

Start speaking straight away. The recording clock runs while you think.

  • 3

Practise out loud, not in your head. Pronunciation and pace are part of the mark.

Frequently asked questions

Do I speak to a real examiner?
No. You record your answers and two trained assessors listen back later — so speaking to a screen is exactly the right practice.
What if I get stuck mid-recording?
Keep talking. A short finished sentence earns more than a long one you abandon. Silence earns nothing.
