How many people sit the exam — and how many pass?

Staatsexamen NT2 grew from 27,310 sittings in 2021 to 95,642 in 2025. Almost all the growth is at B1: 12,484 to 73,374. Over the same period the average B1 pass rate fell from 61% to 51%. B2 held steady around 60%.

What the figures show
- B1 sittings are almost **six times** their 2021 level — a consequence of the Wet inburgering 2021.
- B2 grew far more slowly: 14,826 to 22,268 sittings.
- At A1 the first-time pass rate was 72% (2020: 77%).
- More than three-quarters of A1 candidates are women, and women pass about 6 points higher than men.
