How long does it take to get your result?

August 4, 2026 · 2 min

An envelope in a mailbox

For the A2 language exams and KNM you get your result within 8 weeks, by letter and in Mijn Inburgering. But Speaking A2 and Writing A2 take up to 16 weeks, because a person marks them. Your last result decides when you are finished — not your last exam day.

Check online, not the letterbox

The result comes by letter and in Mijn Inburgering (log in with DigiD). Online is usually first. Sitting Staatsexamen NT2? Check DUO's NT2 results page — that term moves with exam volume.

The wait before the exam counts too

  • Registering to a seat: **6 weeks or more**.
  • Waiting for the result: **8 to 16 weeks**.
  • Need a resit? That clock starts again.

Speaking may run later still: after fraud in 2025, CvTE deliberately runs fewer Speaking exams.

What this means for you

  • Schedule Speaking and Writing early in your route, not last.
  • Log in to Mijn Inburgering; the result appears there before the letter.
  • Keep practising while you wait so you can resit straight away.

Frequently asked questions

Letter or online?

Both. Online usually appears first.

Do I retake everything if I fail one part?

No. You resit that part only; passed parts stay valid.

Why is Speaking slower than Reading?

Reading and Listening are machine-marked; Speaking and Writing are marked by people.

Waiting is wasted time unless you use it. Practise at full exam length while your result is on its way.
