Spreken: verhaal bij drie foto's
You see three photos that belong together and tell what happens, from the first photo to the last.
The prompt gives the topic — een werkdag, een bezoek aan de dokter, boodschappen doen — and asks Vertel wat er gebeurt, van de eerste tot de laatste foto. A complete answer has one or two sentences per photo, in order, joined by eerst, daarna and ten slotte. The same person runs through all three photos, so after the first sentence de man becomes hij. Keep one tense, the present, from start to end.
How the exam tests this
In the Inburgeringsexamen Spreken you answer on a computer and your answers are recorded. One part shows you three photos that tell a story and asks you to tell it in order. The task cards in our bank check whether the story is logical and whether all three photos are used, and many ask for words such as eerst, daarna and ten slotte. We have 32 of these three-photo tasks to practise with. The recording time is short, so share it fairly over the three photos.
What is wrong with this sentence?
Eerst de man drinkt koffie. Daarna hij werkt.
Most candidates write it exactly like this and lose the mark without knowing why.
