Luisteren: actievraag
A question asking what someone in the fragment must do, will do, or is advised to do.
158 of our 821 B1 listening items. The fragments are voicemails, phone calls, counter conversations and short news items, and almost all of them mention several actions: what the caller already tried, what the other person will do, what happens only if the first plan fails. The question asks for exactly one of those. The difficulty is not hearing the action — every option was heard — but hearing whose action it is and whether it is the plan or the backup.
How the exam tests this
Luisteren I: about 40 multiple-choice questions over five or more fragments in 90 minutes, computer-marked, and each fragment plays once. Action questions are phrased "Wat moet de klant meenemen?", "Wat gaat de verhuurder doen?" or "Wat is het advies voor automobilisten?". The wrong options are built from the same fragment: an action by the other speaker, something the caller already did, the fallback that only happens "als" or "mocht" something goes wrong, or the advice turned into a stronger or opposite instruction.
