Spreken: korte reactie
A short, practical situation; you react in about 20 seconds and do exactly the jobs the task lists.
Every short task has the same build. First a situation (Een vriend vraagt of u zaterdag met hem naar een voetbalwedstrijd gaat. U heeft geen zin, maar wilt niet onbeleefd zijn.), then an instruction with the jobs: bedank voor de uitnodiging en zeg vriendelijk af. Twenty seconds is roughly three sentences at a calm pace. That is enough for the jobs listed and nothing else, so the skill is not saying a lot. The skill is covering every job, in the right tone, before time runs out.
How the exam tests this
Staatsexamen NT2 programme I, Spreken: about 25 minutes, 16 recorded tasks. Eight of them are short tasks like this one, with about 20 seconds to answer; the other eight ask for about 30 seconds. Two trained assessors mark the recordings against a marking scheme. The task cards in our bank ask: is the reaction polite and understandable, does it fit the situation, and is the message complete and clear? We have 64 short tasks to practise with.
What is wrong with this sentence?
Nee, ik heb geen zin in voetbal.
Most candidates write it exactly like this and lose the mark without knowing why.
