Spreken: mening geven
A longer task of about 30 seconds: give an opinion with reasons, explain a problem, tell what happened, or give advice.
The typical prompt sets up two sides and asks where you stand: Sommige mensen vinden thuiswerken ideaal, anderen missen het contact met collega's. Wat vindt u? Geef in ongeveer 30 seconden uw mening en noem minstens twee argumenten. Thirty seconds is about four or five sentences. The shape that fits: one sentence of opinion, two reasons each with a linking word, one closing sentence. Other tasks in this set swap the opinion for a problem and a wish (a damaged washing machine) or a short story, but the build stays the same: say the main point first, then support it.
How the exam tests this
Staatsexamen NT2 programme I, Spreken: about 25 minutes, 16 recorded tasks. Eight are short (about 20 seconds); eight are longer tasks like this one, with about 30 seconds to answer. Two trained assessors mark the recordings against a marking scheme. The task cards in our bank ask, for example: is the opinion supported with arguments, is the explanation connected and understandable, is the problem clearly explained? We have 64 of these longer tasks to practise with.
What is wrong with this sentence?
Thuiswerken is goed en slecht. Het is goed. Het is ook slecht. Het hangt ervan af.
Most candidates write it exactly like this and lose the mark without knowing why.
