A question about what a named example, person or case is doing in the text — which claim it serves.

The stem is Waarom noemt de auteur X? or Met welk doel noemt de auteur X?, and X is something concrete — a cleaner and a director, a medical test, the blue light of screens. Where the Argumentatievraag asks which move a sentence makes, this one asks what a concrete thing is attached to: every example in a B2 text hangs from a claim, usually the sentence just before it. The wrong options detach it — they turn the example into a verdict on the people named, stretch it into proof of something far bigger, or pin it to a neighbouring sentence.
How the exam tests this
Lezen on Programma II: roughly 35–36 multiple-choice questions over about six texts in 100 minutes, computer-marked. The correct option usually opens with a purpose frame — Als voorbeeld van …, Als contrast dat aantoont dat …, Om te laten zien dat … — and completes it with the claim the example supports. The wrong options use the same frames with the wrong ending: an attitude towards the people in the example (Om schoonmakers te bekritiseren), a conclusion far larger than one example can carry (Om te bewijzen dat zeldzame ziekten niet bestaan), or the job of another sentence in the same paragraph.
