Gevolgvraag
A question asking what results from something in the text — the consequence, risk or loss the text itself names.
5 of our B2 reading items. The stem says Welk gevolg noemt de auteur …?, but just as often Welk risico noemt de tekst …? or Wat dreigen we te verliezen …? — the word gevolg need not appear. Unlike an argumentatie question, you are not asked what a sentence does in the argument; you are asked for one link in a chain of events. The difficulty is that B2 texts describe the whole chain — cause, mechanism, result, and sometimes the result of the result — and each link is an option.
How the exam tests this
Lezen for Programma II: about 35–36 multiple-choice questions over roughly 6 texts in 100 minutes, computer-marked. The wrong options on gevolg items are the cause or the mechanism given instead of the result; a phrase lifted from another sentence of the same paragraph; a consequence the text explicitly says does not follow (Dat maakt de hal niet kleiner); and an everyday consequence that is nowhere in the text (products get dearer). When the stem says risico or dreigen, the answer is something that may happen, not something that has.
