Kernpuntvraag
A question asking what one paragraph is doing in the argument — its point, not its subject.
Second-largest type on Lezen II: 48 of our 291 items. It sits between the detail question and the standpunt question and is confused with both. It is not what the paragraph says — that is detail — and not what the writer believes — that is standpunt. It is the single claim the paragraph exists to make, and a B2 paragraph usually spends most of its length on evidence for that claim rather than on the claim itself.
How the exam tests this
About 35–36 multiple-choice questions over roughly 6 texts in 100 minutes, computer-marked. The question names a paragraph — "Wat is het kernpunt van alinea 3?" — so you know exactly where to look, and that is the point: the difficulty is not location. Every option is drawn from inside that paragraph. One is a supporting example, one is a fact stated there in passing, one is the claim with its restriction removed, and one is the claim. The example option is the one most often chosen, because it is usually the most concrete sentence in the paragraph.
