Slaagkans

Kort bericht: klacht

A short complaint message of 40–80 words to a company or organisation: what went wrong, which order or agreement, and what you expect — firm, but businesslike.

5 of our 16 short B2 writing tasks are complaints: a course paid for but not accessible, a bike delivered in the wrong size, an office order two weeks late, building noise before seven in the morning, a debit for a subscription already ended. Each names three points, and they follow one pattern: describe the problem, refer to the order or agreement, and say what you expect. Three of the five ask for a concrete term or date. The difficulty is not the grammar but the balance: the complaint must be unmistakable while the tone stays businesslike.

How the exam tests this

Schrijven II holds one or two short tasks among its 9–12, marked by two assessors against a scheme. Our 5 complaint tasks all ask for 40–80 words and name three points. The scheme asks three questions: are all the points handled, is the tone right, and is the wording concise and precise. In 3 of the 5, the tone question reads "Blijft de toon zakelijk terwijl de klacht duidelijk is?" — so a message that is polite but vague fails it as surely as one that is angry.

What is wrong with this sentence?

Dit is echt belachelijk, ik wil nu meteen mijn geld terug!

Most candidates write it exactly like this and lose the mark without knowing why.
