Middellange tekst: grafiek beschrijven
A connected text of about 100 to 160 words about a graph: describe what it shows, give a possible explanation for one named movement, and draw a conclusion about the development.
The prompt tells you in words what the graph shows, so reading it is not the difficulty. The difficulty is turning that shape into prose: a trend, the phases in order, one explanation offered as possible rather than certain, and a conclusion that says something new. Candidates who treat it as a list of years and numbers lose the connected-text mark before they reach the explanation.
How the exam tests this
Schrijven II ends with one or two medium-length tasks among its 9–12, marked by two assessors against a scheme. Our 7 graph tasks all ask for 100–160 words and one connected text, not a list. The scheme asks whether all requested parts are worked out, whether the text has an introduction, a body and a close, whether claims are supported, and whether the vocabulary is varied and fitting for B2. One of our items adds: are description and explanation clearly kept apart?
