Zinstaak: toegeving
A completion task: the stem opens with Hoewel … and concedes a point, and you write the main clause that holds your position anyway.
The concession has already been written for you; your half is the answer to it. That changes the task in two ways. Grammatically, the Hoewel-clause fills the first position of the sentence, so your main clause must open with its conjugated verb. Logically, your half has to go against what the concession leads a reader to expect — a continuation in the same direction reads fluently and still expresses no toegeving at all.
How the exam tests this
Most of Schrijven II is sentence tasks — roughly seven or eight of its nine to twelve — each asking for one move. All four of our toegeving items print a stem that begins Hoewel … and stops at the comma, so you write only the main clause. The requirements say it plainly: erken iets en houd toch uw punt vast, and one item adds houd rekening met de woordvolgorde na de bijzin. Two assessors mark against a scheme, and our practice items check three things: is the concession relation expressed, is the connector handled correctly including word order, and does your half fit the situation.
What is wrong with this sentence?
Hoewel de cursus behoorlijk duur was, ik heb er veel van geleerd.
Most candidates write it exactly like this and lose the mark without knowing why.
