Zinstaak: vergelijking
A one-sentence task that asks you to set two things side by side and name a clear difference between them.
The prompt names two things — the car and the train, a paper book and a screen — and asks for one sentence that compares them. The difficulty is not the comparative itself; it is that a sentence about only one of the two, or one that names a similarity when a difference was asked for, reads fluently and still fails the task. The comparison has to be visible: both things named, one dimension chosen, and a comparing word that carries the relation.
How the exam tests this
Most of Schrijven II is sentence tasks — roughly seven or eight of its nine to twelve — and each asks for one rhetorical move. In the comparison task you either write a whole sentence from an open prompt (four of our five vergelijking items) or finish a stem that ends in terwijl. Two assessors mark against a scheme, and our practice items ask the same three things: does the sentence express the relation that was asked for, is the connector used correctly including the word order it triggers, and does it fit the situation. A sentence about one side only answers none of the three.
What is wrong with this sentence?
Met de trein reis je meer rustig als met de auto.
