Reading a table of opening hours and answering about one day — or judging a waar / niet waar statement about it.
7 of our 253 A2 reading items. There is no reading difficulty here at all: the words are days and numbers. The marks are lost on the row. A table gives four or five lines, the question names one day, and the four options are the closing times of the other days. It is the cheapest set of marks on the paper and it is also where a hurried candidate throws marks away, because the answer looks obvious from the first line the eye lands on.
How the exam tests this
Part of Lezen, computer-marked, the reading paper sat separately. Two question forms appear: a direct one (Tot hoe laat is het zwembad open op zondag?) with four times, and a true/false one (De apotheek is in het weekend open — waar of niet waar) with two. The true/false form is the harder of the two, because weekend means both Saturday and Sunday, and a table that opens on Saturday and closes on Sunday makes the statement false.
