Slaagkans

Luisteren: doel van het gesprek

A question asking why someone is calling, visiting or speaking — the reason the conversation exists.

25 of our 821 B1 listening items — rare, but nearly free when you know where to listen. The reason for a call or visit is almost always said in the first one or two sentences, before any detail. The difficulty is that the rest of the conversation wanders: the caller answers questions, asks about other things, mentions what is not the problem. By the time the question is on screen, those later topics are louder in your memory than the opening line.

How the exam tests this

Luisteren I: about 40 multiple-choice questions over five or more fragments in 90 minutes, computer-marked, and each fragment plays once. Purpose questions are phrased "Waarom belt mevrouw De Groot?", "Waarvoor komt de vrouw naar het loket?" or "Waarover wil de buurvrouw praten?", and they are usually the first question on a fragment. The wrong options come from the same conversation: a question the caller asks near the end, a step that happens during the visit, or a symptom the caller explicitly says they do NOT have.
