Spreken: betoog
The long task: after a few minutes of preparation, you argue for or against a statement for about 2 minutes, with arguments, a counter-argument and a conclusion.
The card is always built the same way. Houd een kort betoog over de stelling: 'De vierdaagse werkweek zou voor iedereen de norm moeten worden.' Then four jobs: geef uw standpunt, onderbouw dat met meerdere argumenten, ga in op minstens één tegenargument, sluit af met een conclusie. Two minutes is a real speech, not a long answer, and the danger changes. In 30 seconds you run out of time; in 2 minutes you run out of structure. The skill is a plan made in the preparation time and signposts that let the listener follow it.
How the exam tests this
Staatsexamen NT2 programme II, Spreken: 13 recorded tasks in about 25 minutes. One of them is this long task: about 2 minutes of speaking, with preparation time first. We have 8 of these betoog tasks in our bank. Two trained assessors mark the recording against a marking scheme. The task cards ask three questions: is the argument well built and coherent, are the arguments and the counter-argument handled convincingly, and is the language varied, fluent and correct at B2 level?

Ja, auto's. Er zijn veel auto's in de stad. Soms is dat goed en soms niet, dat hangt ervan af.
Most candidates write it exactly like this and lose the mark without knowing why.
